THE SOCK STORY

Back in 2004, a gentleman gave me a pair of socks. I thought they were so good that three years later I bought the business from him – it’s true! 

At the time, I did and still do run a business called Shepherds Walks and the previous owner of Capricorn Mohair Socks gave me a pair and asked what I thought of his walking socks. I pulled them on and I have never walked in anything else since (not the same pair I may add) 

Before purchasing the sock business, I initially started selling the walking socks through our Shepherds Walks website, then in our shop in Northumberland. There is something ‘special’ about these socks, this is what our customers keep telling me. 

So, when the opportunity arose to buy Capricorn Mohair Socks in 2007 I jumped at the chance.  The sock business has gone from strength to strength with us selling our quality mohair socks not just in the UK but worldwide. One of our largest growths has been in the fashion sector in Japan, with our socks featured in high-end fashion magazines.  Despite this success, our whole ethos behind the Capricorn Socks brand has not changed, our socks are still made in the same way, with the same attention to detail and your comfort in mind.   

Since the early days, our Shepherds Walks business has expanded dramatically, and we now have Shepherds Walks Holidays, GPS Training and Outdoor GPS Shop.  Our holiday customers often remark how those long walks are made slightly easier by having comfortable walking socks helping to keep the blisters at bay.

Over recent years I have started undertaking ultra-events (walking I must add), with many of these being over 100 miles in length. You guessed it, I do all these wearing Capricorn Mohair Socks. I am still taken aback by how this natural fibre can be so kind on my feet when you are truly pushing them to their limits during these events.
