Company Overview

Dimbleby Ceramics are husband and wife team Mathew and Rachel who have combined their design talents to create beautiful ceramic gifts for the home. Mathew is the skilled potter and Rachel a talented surface pattern designer. The traditions of British made pottery and the heritage of Stoke-on-Trent is very important to the company being proud to produce giftware from their Stoke-on-Trent studio using locally sourced materials and traditional techniques, focusing on the quality and finish of each product. Dimbleby Ceramics was launched in 2010 after Mathew and Rachel were both made redundant from their jobs. They knew that they wanted to develop ceramic products, creating a range that was handmade, with the provenance of the Stoke-on-Trent back stamp and emphasis made on a high quality finish. Inspired by Emma Bridgewater and her passion for the Potteries and her homely, humorous ceramics, Rachel and Mathew started to produce their handmade hanging hearts. Originally, wording was stamped into to body of the clay, responding to the shabby chic trend at the time. This developed into more sophisticated lithographed wording, and currently the pair use 22 carat gold screen printed lithographs for the majority of their wording hearts. The couple have increased their ranges with Rachel drawing and painting a wide variety of dogs, cats, birds, countryside and farmyard animals, with the designs being used on English fine bone china mugs & coasters as well as the original hearts.
