Behind the Brand Parlane

On this week's edition we are excited to invite Parlane to take part in our new blog initiative so you can find out more about their latest ranges and what they have planned for the year ahead. 

Introduction about your brand

Behind our brand lies a dedicated team who work hard to bring the latest interior fashion trends in homewares to the market. For nearly 50 years, our designers and buyers have been working closely with small suppliers to create products possessing quality and longevity. We love natural materials and handcrafted work which uses creative techniques to produce unique textures, patterns and finishes, applied to a vast range of accessories in ceramic, glass, wood and metal.

What are the top products this year/set for 2020?

Where do we start! Pothangers continue to be our number one best sellers. These mainly take the form of cute domestic and wild animals that hang from pots and vases making a decorative feature. Our ceramic pots and vases with faces are incredibly popular. These ‘pots with personality’ which include animal or human features, provide humorous, light-hearted fun.

Could you tell us about your latest collection/ranges?

Our Autumn Winter collection has lots of texture, soft organic shapes and rich colour tones. Light sandy brown and dark denim blue are blended with warm-toned metallic finishes. Our extensive floral collection contains plenty of greenery amongst spicy hints of russet red, burnt orange and cream. We have a selection of unusual and quirky Christmas decorations - woodland creatures like majestic stags, moose, owls, squirrels, mice and lots of playful bears. We also have a more sophisticated Christmas collection featuring Art deco influenced accessories in black, gold and shades of grey. We have introduced a range of Terrazzo tables, planters and lamp bases. This beautiful material originated in Venice over 500 years ago where it was first used for flooring. Terrazzo is created out of coloured fragments of marble and glass which are mixed into cement. A dye can then be added to form the base colour. Finally, it is polished to produce a highly decorative and hard wearing surface.

Any big trends you've spotted for 2020/2021?

Vases and pots with characterful faces are going to continue to be on trend and we will be adding to our existing range. We already have a huge variety of fun and quirky animals represented in the collection but the next key look will be big cats like leopards, cheetahs, tigers and lions which will appear next season. Feathery and fluffy florals like pampas grass will be emerging as well as an increase in bamboo and rattan materials, especially for furniture.

What makes your company stand out from the rest?

Almost 50 years of trading has established us as a trusted brand. Each season we introduce a wide new range of products, ensuring we always keep ahead of trend, featuring unique designs exclusive to Parlane in the UK. Adding to this, we really enjoy delivering excellent customer service and hospitality to all our customers.

What can we expect from you at Home & Gift 2020?

As we haven’t been at the show for a number of years, the team is really excited, and we are planning a visually stunning stand.  We’ll be taking a variety of home accessories including furniture, our extensive faux flower collection and some fabulous Christmas ranges. We will be serving refreshments to encourage customers on to the stand to browse our diverse offering and to experience the great service we can offer them.
