Behind the Brand Samantha Holmes

Welcome to our new series of Behind the Brand! Our new campaign drawing on the energy and talent of our brands who will be on show at Home and Gift 2019!
We are excited to invite Samantha Holmes to take part in our new blog initiative Behind the Brand so you can find out more about their latest ranges and what they have planned for the year ahead.




    1. Introduction about your brand

For me, my brand is all about natural luxury, softness, timeless design and craftsmanship.  
I work with small producer groups in Peru who translate my designs into clothing, fashion accessories, baby gifts and homewares, crafted in finest quality alpaca wool.  
I launched in Scotland 16 years ago and now supply small independent retailers throughout the world.  Alpaca has seen an extraordinary rise in popularity this past 10 years and is no longer the second runner to cashmere.





    2. What are your top products this year/set for 2020?
  
My top product for this year will continue to be our best-selling Alpaca Travel Shawl & Pillow which is a big jersey shawl rolled inside a drawstring cover – you can use it as a cover up, blanket, pillow or backrest, on holiday, or at work, Summer or Winter. 
 Also my customers love my alpaca fur because it’s irresistibly soft and ethically sourced.  No alpaca has been harmed or killed for their fur.  
Our alpaca fur slides, fur hot water bottles and fur baby booties are particularly popular.   
For Winter 2019/2020 our new Alpaca Fair Isle collection of hats, gloves, scarves and babywear which will feature a quirky alpaca leitmotif is set to be a top seller.




  
    3. Could you tell us about your latest collections/ranges?

The increasing popularity of alpaca has seen an inevitable rise in price.  We do not want to compromise on quality however, so will retain our premium collection with our signature alpaca yarns.  
The new addition will be our Alpaca Fair Isle collection which will sit approximately 20% below the premium collection in price.  Traditional fair isle with a twist.  
 More playful and quirky.  Brighter and busier on the eye, the range will comprise giftable hats, gloves, scarves, blankets and babywear with an engaging alpaca leitmotif.






    4. Any big trends you’ve spotted for 2020/2021?

Alpaca, of course, especially the animal itself.  We’ve had unicorns, we’ve had flamingos.  Now it’s llamas and alpacas!




    5. What makes your company stand out from the rest?

The quality of our products, our commitment to flexible, personal customer service and the fact that we are still alive and kicking after 16 years!




    6. What can we expect from you at Home & Gift 2019?
A small, but beautiful stand with unique designs, a strong brand story and a loyal customer following.
